League Rules Revised Sep 2022

  1. The league shall be called the Westwood Social Cub Skittle League and shall consist of a maximum of 16 teams.
  2. The league shall consist of a Committee of all team captains.
  3. All players must be a member of Westwood Social Club
  4. Mixed teams are allowed.
  5. Once a player is registered with a team they cannot play for another team during the season.
  6. Each team will consist of 6 playing members and each game will consist of 5 legs. A point will be awarded for each leg and 1 point for the team with the highest aggregate score, so making a maximum of 6 points.
  7. A team may play with less than 6 players, but not less than 5. If a side plays with 5 players, then each player will throw for A.N.Other in each leg. Captains can wait until the end of the second leg before deciding if A.N.Other applies.
  8. In extenuating circumstances if after 2 legs have been played in a league game, a team only has 4 players then A.N.Other can be played (making a team of 5) and the 6 place player will have a fixed score of 3 pins per leg (making a total score of 15) and a further 3 pins allocated for their A.N.Other score on the last leg. (THIS RULE DOES NOT APPLY TO CUP MATCHES)
  9. Where possible there will be two matches each evening, the first to commence at 7.45pm and the second match to commence at 8.45pm with a 15 minute allowance.
  10. Unless there are unforeseen circumstances any team wishing to cancel a match, should where possible give at least 24 hours notice to the secretary. If the secretary is not contactable the cancelling team must inform the opposing captain, the Club and the sticker up.
  11. Any rearranged match will be set for the convenience of the opposing team.
  12. Any dispute regarding cancelled matches will be dealt with by the skittle committee.
  13. There are two white lines painted on the alley, and it must be the responsibility of captains to ensure that the line rule is not abused.
  14. No player must stand in front of the line which is furthest from the pins, and no player must throw any ball over the line nearest the pins before it touches the alley.
  15. Each captain is responsible for filling in and agreeing the score sheet and handing this together with the match fees over the bar. If there are any discrepancies then the score on the scoreboard stands. The captain is also responsible for paying the sticker up the agreed fee.
  16. LEAGUE CHAMPIONS. The league winners will be the team at the end of the season with the highest number of points. Should 2 or more teams finish with level points then the winner will be the team that has knocked down the highest number of pins during the season.
  17. CUP COMPETITIONS Rule 7 Only applies until the semi-finals and final, when each team MUST have 6 players. Any team with less than 6 players or 5 player plus A.N. OTHER in the earlier rounds will forfeit the match, but fees will still be payable.
  18. KNOCK OUT CUP this cup will be played as a league match over 5 legs and the winner will be the side with the highest aggregate score. If the aggregate score is tied then an additional leg must be played to decide the winner.
  19. NOMINATION CUP This cup will be played on a knock out basis over 5 legs and players will clearly nominate their object pin before the ball leaves the hand. Any pins knocked down by the player who does not first knock down his/her object pin must be left down and not replaced in the frame. If all remaining pins are knocked down with the second ball with the correct nomination, then only these pins can be put up again for the third ball. The winner will be the side with the highest aggregate score. If the aggregate score is tied then an additional leg must be played to decide the winner.
  20. FRONT PIN FIRST this cup will be played on o knock out basis over 5 legs, and players must knock down the front pin before any score counts. Any pins knocked down by a player who does not hit the front pin first, must be left down and not replaced in the frame. If the remaining pins are knocked down with the second ball striking the front pin first then only these can be put up again for the third ball. The winner will be the team with the highest aggregate score. If the aggregate score is tied than an additional leg must be played.
  21. R J FARLEY TROPHY This competition will be based on the aggregate score over 3 legs.. In the event of a tied aggregate then a deciding leg wilt be played.
  22. INDIVIDUAL PRIZES There will be individual prizes allocated at the end of the season for the ladies and gents highest score, highest number of spares and highest average no cup matches will count in these individual prizes. To qualify for the highest average a player must have played in 50% of the league matches.
  23. Any items not covered by these rules will be dealt with by the committee.
